Extra Curricular

Elementary School

The Elementary School’s Extra Curricular Programme is called ‘Special Interest Groups’. This is an after-school programme where students have many opportunities to explore and extend their interests and talents.

Important information for each group

1.    Ballet

Ballet offers many potential benefits for both body and mind. It's a total body workout that requires both discipline and focus but is also quite enjoyable.

2.    Tae Kwon Do

This programme develops an appreciation for Tae Kwon Do as a sport and as an art. Students achieve physical fitness through positive participation, learn self-defense skills and develop a sense of responsibility for themselves and others. Tae Kwon Do also improves mental discipline.

3.    Capoeira

The Capoeira programme introduces students to a different culture in a supportive learning environment. Students work with positive role models and develop discipline and respect. Students have an opportunity to make great friends and have fun exercising and staying healthy!

4.    Karate

Karate employs techniques that build strength, endurance, flexibility, posture, balance and coordination. While the physical benefits of karate are undeniable, this popular sport has many non-physical benefits for students - it enhances self-esteem and improves students’ focus and self-discipline.

5.    Acoustic Guitar

When learning acoustic guitar, students open up an entirely new world for themselves. It’s not merely a hobby or something that they might just want to do for fun.

6.    Futsal

The priority in Futsal is to motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning. The more pleasure students derive from their participation, the more they wish to play and practice on their own. While their instinct to play is natural, their affection and appreciation for football must be cultivated.

7.    Basketball

Basketball is a fast moving game that involves a lot of variety including shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, defence and much more.
It is a great workout that can help students in terms of their own fitness as well as developing teamwork and self discipline.

8.    Modern/Contemporary Dance

Dance provides physical, developmental and artistic benefits to students. Dance classes share the joy of physical self-expression in a supportive and structured setting. This can have a positive impact on students who have limited physical abilities, who act out or who have a difficult time sitting still.  Involving students in dance also teaches the basic elements of creative movement, such as time, space, rhythm and design.

9.    Robotics Programme

Our Robotics programme gives opportunities for students to explore and use advanced technology in an enjoyable way. Students will be more familiar with electronic and digital gadgets. They can learn mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork skills. In pairs, students can also build different robots and programme them with a computer to move, react and make sounds to solve challenges.

10.    Chess

Chess strengthens a student's mental clarity, fortitude, stability, and overall health. Chess is an effective way of helping students grow mentally and developing planning, confidence, patience, discipline.

11.    Hockey

The expectation of the Hockey programme is to teach students to play hockey, to know the rules of hockey and to develop team work.

12.    Swimming

Swimming is effective exercise that will help students to keep in good shape, lose weight and remain healthy. Students will feel more refreshed and will be physically fit.
